My 17-year-old son was still asleep at 11 a.m. last Monday. It was the first day of summer break after all, but I opened his door to try to nudge him into starting his day and I had some really good news: The Supreme Court had decided on a 6–3 vote to extend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to protect LGBTQ individuals, a precious victory for those of us who believe in equal rights for all people.
